Chen Chao (陳超) is a secondary character in The Daily Life of the Immortal King.
Summary[]
Chen Chao is one of the most powerful students of 60TH high, being president of the elite class and Class 1 and Class 3 sports committee member.
Being from the Chen family, he is a martial artist knowing the Chen technique.
Appearance[]
A young man with a more defined physique. He has gray eyes and has black hair with a very low haircut and two receding hairlines on the left side of it. He is usually seen wearing the standard uniform of 60TH High, though he always wears his coat openly.
Personality[]
Chen Chao’s main characteristics are to be expressive, spontaneous, distracted, disorganized, reckless, impulsive, undisciplined and does everything to please... exaggeratedly. But despite his troublesome manner, he has shown to be very helpful with people, as when he would help an old lady to cross the street.
Thanks to his family's teachings he acquired a sense of responsibility of " whenever you see an injustice you must step forward to help ". His powerful vision of justice can be seen when he entered the group of exorcists to protect all Huaxiu against remnants demons, and as soon as he saw that that group was actually the cause of the demon attacks he quickly opposed them.
He is shown to be more respectful and open to those he trusts.
When facing Yisha Bei, he initially thought to go easy on her for her being a woman, but quickly took it seriously when he realized she wasn't weak and seemed confident.
He also appears to have a certain fear of horror and haunting stories and a weakness for girls he finds pretty like Lin Xiaoyu and Sun Rong.
Story[]
Chen Chao was born in 4378 and he was taught about the old family teachings since childhood: have a good heart and do good deeds. He always engaged in physical exercises like running or chopping wood, and was usually taught some lessons by his father.
At the beginning of the school year in 4396, he entered the elite class of 60TH High and became the class president.
During the holidays of 4396, his father taught him the mercy palm technique, with the aim of accelerating his progress in cultivation.
In August 4396, already in the second semester of the school year, Chen Chao ended up falling in love with an apparent female cultivator who was recording videos on the internet, and he started donating his own spirit energy to her over the internet, he also ended up stealing and donating to her one of the family treasures passed down for hundreds of years, the heavenly dog tongue, much to the complete ire of his father, who destroyed his cell phone. However, he ends up getting back in touch with her again on the computer in the school's information room. His friends tried in vain to help him, and ended up discovering that this cultivator was actually a demon that was controlling him. Sun Rong at first he tries to nullify the demonic control using his own control technique, but it is not enough, his father then appears and destroys the computer and told him to go home, but the controlled Chen Chao in total despair and plugs himself a cable that transmits his spirit into the fox's transmission, where he sees with his own eyes that she is actually a demon, he tries to attack her but he cannot harm her because now he is only a spirit, she however uses a magic vacuum cleaner that started to suck his soul, but Wang Ling defeated her and brings Chen Chao back to his body.
Later, he helped his friends in try to stop Sun Rong's forced marriage to Tang Jingze. A few days later he was one of the participants of the spiritual sword arts conference along with Guo Hao, and in the same day he helped in fight the demons during the second demonic invasion.

Relations[]
Wang Ling: They are great friends, with Chen Chao usually wanting to protect him, as he thinks Ling is too weak.
Guo Hao: They are great friends being seen almost always talking together.
Lin Xiaoyu: Chen Chao has great admiration for her once he saw the conditions she works under. He frowned when he thought about asking her out and seemed frustrated when she couldn't go with him.
Sun Rong: He has a crush on her, not only because of her looks, but also because she is the most powerful student at 60TH high.
Tang Jingze: They clearly have an enmity with him, largely due to the way he bullies people, especially Lin Xiaoyu.
Tuntian Ha: The two get along with each other.

- When showing his character profile in Ep 3, Chen Chao’s zodiac sign is said to be Virgo.
- Ironically, his traits are opposite to the ones of the Virgo sign.
- Since Chen Chao managed to transport his spirit to the internet, and it was said that only Golden core cultivators could do such a thing, it is confirmed that Chen Chao, while under control, probably got some kind of boost that caused his spiritual energy levels to come close to a cultivator in the Golden core stage. According to the light novel, he is one of the most likely candidates to reach the Golden Core stage.
- He is 1.78 tall and weighs 75 kilos.
- In the light novel at the beginning, he used to be one of four people that Wang Ling wanted to avoid interacting with as much as possible, together with Sun Rong; Pan Shengcong and Guo Hao.
